Avicii’s Studio 54 Live Set

This past week Avicii secured his spot in the EDM history books by rocking the legendary Studio 54 Nightclub in NYC. Studio 54 was known for it’s lavish parties during the 70’s and 80’s, but was shut down in the 90’s and converted into a minor theater. Well that all changed on the 18th of October when SiriusXM and Avicii teamed up to throw a one night only show at the legendary location.

‘new york, good to be back! playin legendary Studio 54 that opens up for 1 more night tmrw with@siriusxm! waka waka wakaaa’ – Via Twitter

If that isn’t incredible enough, Tim also announced this from his FaceBook page:

‘NYC – see you tonight at the original STUDIO 54 location. The doormen ensured me they will let 100 people in from the street in addition to the insane guest list! Hope they are my fans! ♥

Tonight we’re part of music history?!’

Whoever those lucky 100 people were definitely got the experience of a lifetime! Without further ado, here’s the #6 DJ in the WORLD’s set, so crank the volume and enjoy.

Switchfoot – Always

This is probably my favorite song on Kaskade‘s recent Essential Mix, which is saying a lot with the quality of the tracks that he put into that session. If you haven’t listened to his Essential Mix yet -> click here and it’s track 33 remixed by Max Vangeli & AN21. These two do an incredible job of keeping the songs integrity, while giving it just the right injection of house. Hope you enjoy!

Sound The Alarm(a)!

A couple of months ago we posted about keeping an eye on the two brothers…Well here comes the ‘Alarma‘!  Not only have these two successfully started up their own record label with ‘Smash The House’, but they’ve also set the release of their new song to be its inaugural one. Here’s a little teaser of it that the two put out on SoundCloud earlier today:

‘Alarma’

We also have another brand SPANKING new preview of a song from Adrian Lux, which appears to be an incredible track from only hearing around a minute of it! The vocal support by Brit, Sarah McIntosh, gives this track a beautiful feel to it, but also shows a different, more trance-like sound from Adrian. This song, simply put, is astounding and the full-release is available on BeatPort here – ‘Alive’

Fire & Ice

It’s always a good sign when you watch a teaser trailer and it sends shivers of excitement down your spine. I’m sure many of you know this familiar feeling and that it usually corresponds with something so irresistible that you can’t wait any longer for it. Kaskade has always been an artist at the pinnacle of DJing and producing here in the states. Always pushing his music to reach for greatness, while shaping the entire EDM community with the quality of his tracks. The album, ‘Fire & Ice’, is set to release on iTunes the 25th of October and will surely help to get us through the Winter season.

‘This album represents the last ten years of my career, all the miles traveled, the shows that I’ve played, the people that I’ve met, and the memories I’ve made.’ – Kaskade

Can’t get enough? Yeah, neither can we! Here’s a little more from Kaskade in the studio. He gives the audience a feel of how much really went into this album and also the many fantastic collaborations that are going to be incorporated into this double-disc release.

A Night Like This

Sometimes there are music videos that simply take your breath away and it may not be because there was a huge production cost involved, but rather the song doesn’t need something so gaudy to make it perfect. This is one of those videos.

A Night Like This

While we’re at it, why not let you explore one of the most joyful Kyau & Albert songs that allows you to compare the range of emotion that this duo bring to the EDM scene. Simply incredible!

On The Way

Do The Dada

Sadly, when we hit Global Dance Festival on our road trip to Colorado,  there were many DJ’s that had overlapping set times, so we struggled with the decision to try and catch Dada Life or stick with our man Avicii.  Even though we went with Avicii, our luck has paid off and it seems that Dada Life has found their way to us!  This Halloween, several months after Global Dance, FreakNight at WaMu Theater will be boasting a hefty lineup that includes Dada Life. Although the whole lineup is absolutely BANANAS we were ecstatic to see Dada on the bill! Many show-goers may not know the group Dada Life, however this pair brings about a frenzy at any show they play, whether that be champagne blasting into the crowd, their rowdy stage antics, or their dark Electro-House bangers. These guys are just the fit for FreakNight, so let us bring you up with some tracks/videos that display just how creepily amazing they are.

Note: ‘Let’s Get Bleeped Tonight’ and ‘Unleash The Fucking Dada’ exemplify Dada’s signature horror factor

These guys love to hype their crowds up.  If you still don’t agree with me saying that this duo is BANANAS, then check out this video from a live show turned music video for the song ‘Happy Violence’.

How could you even attempt to follow something like that?  How about with a teaser of their vocal version of the song that was just captured from the historic College Invasion Tour show put on at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA.

(The singer on the track hasn’t been identified yet, but we have a sneaking suspicion that it’s Nervo from the sounds of it.)

The set that’s going to be put on by these two is sure to be high energy, highly insane, and perfectly fitting for this years FreakNight. We’ll be sure to catch a front row seat for the champagne shower and have plenty of bananas as retaliatory ammunition!

Cross The Line

I’ve found myself getting more and more into drum & bass in the past couple of months and I guess the real question is how could you not? Today Camo & Krooked just released their brand SPANKING new album across the pond in Europe and the teaser only leaves me salivating for MORE! These two Austrians will successfully bring any house down and then some… Here are a couple of videos that I found up on YouTube that are a must watch. The first one being their album debut show last week @ Brixton Academy and the second their ‘Cross The Line’ album teaser.

‘Cross The Line is everything you’d expect and more from the Viennese pair; a fourteen-track roller-coaster ride of emotions, veering between polished vocal-led beauties to filthy tear-out monsters, which firmly establishes Camo & Krooked outside the D+B sphere, as they delve into dubstep, drumstep, electro-house and everything in between.’ – UKF

This only leaves me with one question… when are these two coming to Seattle!?!?

Knife Party

If you haven’t heard of these guys then get on it, because they’re gaining fans at an EPIC pace (and for good reason)! About a month ago, I posted a song of theirs entitled ‘Zoology‘ that not only features Skrillex, but has been getting some major attention. Since then, they’ve been hard at work, building up their music repertoire. With an upcoming EP titled “100% No Modern Talking” (featuring four brand new tracks) , an additional feature on Porter Robinson’s EP ‘Spitfire’ with a remix of the track ‘Unison’, and a new track with none other than Swedish House Mafia called ‘Antidote’; they have definitely been busy.

Still have no idea who I’m talking about? Maybe a little background on them will leave you pleasantly surprised. Knife Party is a new project of Pendulum duo Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen and it’s a project they’ve managed to keep very low on the radar. With this in mind, our fingers are crossed that Pendulum might drop a couple new tracks at Freaknight here in Seattle, less than a month from now. Can’t wait to see what happens, but until then we hope this collection of tracks will more than suffice!

Unison (Knife Party Remix)

Antidote

Zoology

Although all of the songs above give you a taste of what these two have to offer, why not just fully immerse yourself in Knife Party with their exclusive UKF Bass Culture artist mix and yes, it goes ridiculously hard!

15 Years Part Four

These two songs were just put out on beatport by Kyau & Albert and are incredible remixes to older tracks of theirs that have recently been dueling for Record of the Week on TATW. We happened to be just so lucky to see Kyau & Albert when they came to Seattle and performed a free show @ Trinity Nightclub. These two are amazing together and are living proof of why Trance will never get old, especially when tracks like these two keep getting reinvented by other artists.

Future Folk

Tommy Trash is set to drop his second hit of the year with the song ‘Future Folk’ under the Musical Freedom banner/label. Now mind you this is only a preview for the song, but I’ve already noticed some similarities to effects he’s used in ‘The End’. Hopefully the full version of the song is a bit different than that tune, but we’ll see when it’s released on the 28th of September.
