Mercy

Miika Eloranta and Janne Mansnerus, from Helsinki, Finland, are the Scandanavian duo behind Super8 and Tab and taking the trance world by storm.  Take a listen to one of my favorite tracks from them ‘Mercy’ remixed by Alex Kunnari.

Protect IP Act

It’s a bill tailored by the the entertainment industry to try and stop pirating of music and movies on the web, but is positioning itself to disrupt how we use the internet day to day…

What our generation does on a daily basis would incur huge penalties, fines, and possibly jail time for simply trying to spread the music we love to the masses. Trying to hype new songs, artists, and albums would be infringements that give private corporations the ability to block OUR blog(s). It’s an unprecedented bill that is being fast-tracked through Congress in the dark of night and should be spread through the same facets that it’s trying to hinder!

Some more food for thought on this disturbing topic:

According to the Congressional Budget Office, this bill would cost us $47 million tax dollars a year — that’s for a fix that won’t work, disrupts the internet, stifles innovation, shuts out diverse voices, and censors the internet. This bill is bad for creativity and does not protect your rights.

We can’t just stand by, like the corporations are expecting us to… let us stand united and fight this together! Go to the website below and fill out the information it needs to help support the cause.

An EDM Laundry List

Alrighty ya’ll so I have got everything from mainstream to movie trailers to remixes to dubstep and trance.

This LMFAO track is a few months old but after recently hearing R3HAB’s super sexy remix of it I decided to check out the original video and it is definitely worth the watch.

Nothing But the Best

Regardless of whether or not you agree with David Guetta’s new reign as the world’s number one dj, there is no doubt that he is a musical genius and a dance music pioneer.  Check out a trailer for a film about D Guetta: past, present and future.

“Nothing But the Beat is the story of David Guetta and house music, as told by himself, his fans and the legions of legendary artists that he’s worked with. The documentary focuses on Guetta and his unstoppable fire to create incredible dance music, fueled by an overwhelming passion and ambition to be the best. This is the official trailer.”

Example – Midnight Run

Example is known for their massive collaboration with Laidback Luke with their track ‘Natural Disaster’.  They just released the official video for their latest single ‘Midnight Run’ and below is Flux Pavilion’s remix.

Modestep – Sunlight

Modestep is a fairly new dubstep and electronic band from London.  This is one of their most popular tracks with a whacky video to boot.

Gareth Emery – Tokyo

This is Gareth Emery’s latest track.  The official release date is December 5th.  I have to say it’s not what I was expecting so definitely take a listen and leave a comment with your opinion!

Boom Jinx ft. Justine Suissa – Phoenix From the Flames (Club Mix)

Any track that has vocals from Justine Suissa is bound to be amazing and this track is nothing short of just that.

Be Serenaded…

Trance is known for the incredible vocalists featured in their tracks.  Zoe Johnston and Cristina Soto fit the bill.  The club mixes of these two songs have been on repeat for me for weeks now and I thought I’d share.  Be serenaded…

Love Comes Again

Love really does come again with Hardwell’s rework of Tiesto & BT’s ‘Love Comes Again’ one of my all time favorite songs.  ‘Love Comes Again’ was originally released in the USA in May of 2004 on Tiesto’s album ‘Just Be’.

FreakNight 2011: A Night of Musical Mayhem

When explaining FreakNight 2011 to others, you find yourself stumbling for the correct words to adequately sum up this night of perfection. Incredible, mind-blowing, everything you ever wanted and more…the list goes on and on.  With a sold out attendance of 15,000 people, Seattle‘s WaMu Theater found itself engulfed in a night of musical mayhem.  To all of you that missed October 28th’s madness: THIS IS FREAKNIGHT2011.

An interactive production put on by Seattle’s USC Events, FreakNight 2011 stunned the Northwest with a hefty lineup featuring artists such as Tiesto, Dada Life, Cosmic Gate Felix Cartal, Feed Me, Pendulum, The Japanese Popstars and more.  Unfortunately featured artist Doctor P dropped out at the last minute due to personal conflicts and a number of cancelled shows.  Despite that, the night still proved to be more than successful.

From carnival rides, to game booths, to free swag and interactive circus performances.  Fire spinners, acrobats, trampolines, bumping lego trucks, costume contests, rock walls, endless bars and more USC stocked the event with plenty of fun that made the 8:00pm-4:00am event endlessly entertaining.  Additionally, an after party that lasted from 3:00am-8:00am at local Seattle club Volume kept the party going well into the morning.

One of our favorite moments of this year’s FreakNight would have to be Dada Life‘s hilariously entertaining set.  The duo dressed themselves in fat chef costumes and bopped around the stage, inviting anyone in a banana costume to join in their fun.  Inflatable bananas and champagne bottles, along with an abundance of energy surged through the crowd.  From ‘Happy Violence’ to their interpretation of Benassi‘s classic ‘Satisfaction‘, the entire venue found themselves doing the Dada.

Tiesto certainly lived up to his name and dragged the crowd alongside him on a roller coaster ride of sound.  He threw tracks such as Delirium‘s ‘Silence’ and Sneaky Sound System‘s ‘I Will Be Here’ and even a remix of Oasis‘Wonderwall’ into the mix.  With almost 15,000 fans packed into the crowd, it surged from the stage, up the bleachers and to the ceiling with an ecstatic, continually dancing audience.  To sum it up, Tiesto was 100% captivating.

On one of the smaller stages, Felix Cartal had the area packed.  With dozens of confetti cannons, fans were caught dancing in a confetti storm of sound.  Felix bopped around blissfully in a Max suit from ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ and looked like he was having just as much fun as his wild audience.  With confetti constantly swirling around, everyone was happily lost in the moment.

To end the night, Cosmic Gate was the perfect pick.  Their beautiful light sound had the crowd still going into the early hours, with fog cannons blasting and lazer lights flying around.  We couldn’t help but just sit back, rest and let their sound cascade over us.  Perfect, perfect way to end the night.

Be sure to check our more of the fun on USC Event‘s webpage where you will soon be able to find hundreds of photos and videos documenting this epic night!

All we have left to ask is: What did YOU think of FreakNight 2011.  All we can say now is that we are counting down the days to when we can get our tickets to FreakNight 2012.  Enjoy.

Double Trouble

Ohhhhh man here we go – Laidback Luke and Sander van Doorn have teamed up for a track of epic proportions.  Earlier today on SoundCloud a clip of the dynamic duo’s latest track “Who’s Wearing the Cap?” was shared from Sanders latest album release, ‘Eleve11’. Take a listen to this track, which in my opinion, bassheads, househeads, and trance lovers alike will enjoy! Bumpin’ bass drops at 1:14…..

Via Soundcloud, “The banging track where trance meets the progressive and blends into electro has its own story. Luke and Sander were once photographed together and one of them was wearing the cap. And since both were often claimed to look alike, the fans started the whole discussion trying to guess “who’s wearing the cap”, Luke or Sander. That story later brought both house masters together to produce the next smashing track and to call it “Who’s Wearing The Cap”.”

Here We Go

If this track doesn’t send shivers down your spine I would be highly concerned.  From the graceful piano to the dreamy voice of Hannah Ray, this track is sure to be a favorite of trance lovers everywhere.  Masoud is a relatively new dj, discovered only two years ago by Andy Moor.  Are you ready? because Here We Go….

Full on Ferry London

Who wants to celebrate New Year’s Eve in London with Ferry Corsten? Yeah that’s what I thought…

Check out Ferry’s big announcement:

“Full On Ferry London New Year’s Eve is going to be a spectacular show.  I have invited quite a number of guests, djs, friends of mine… and I am going to be playing back to back with all of them, so it’s going to be a spectacular night and the lineup will be announced shortly.”

ATB: A Trance Legend

The shockingly beautiful and warm day in Seattle had me reminiscing about summer and one track that was constantly on repeat for my summer season playlist was ATB’s “What About Us”.  ATB aka Andre Tanneberger is a German dj and producer and truly an accomplished trance legend.  ATB has been involved in the music industry since 1992, but began pursuing a solo endeavor in 1999.  Since then he has released an incredible NINE albums and is truly a godfather of trance and has been an innovator in the edm world and an inspiration to artists globally.

I had the pleasure of seeing ATB at Ultra this past March and his set is absolutely mind-blowing and soul-crushing in all the best ways.  Listen yourself!
